Financial Institutions Vertical
Garry MacKinlay is executive vice president, Financial Institutions, Advisors. In this role, he utilizes his deep expertise and understanding of financial services organizations to translate Advisors capabilities and other Mastercard assets into standardized solutions to address customer needs. As a vertical lead, Mr. MacKinlay establishes easily communicated and differentiated value propositions, directs innovation across Advisors, enhances profitability by combining capabilities and assets and identifies the best distribution channels for delivering and scaling those solutions. Mr. MacKinlay also acts as an industry vertical resource across Mastercard.
Prior to this role, Mr. MacKinlay was the Region Lead for the Advisors business in North America. He previously led the Advisors Partnership Marketing team designing and delivering efforts to optimize performance of the issuer card portfolio. These efforts resulted in a joint venture with Varde Partners LLC, Dunedin Capital Marketing LLC, which aimed to generate incremental MasterCard gross-dollar volume by addressing cyclical and point-in-time capital and operational expense constraints of Issuing banks worldwide.
Prior to joining Mastercard in 2010, he was Managing Director at KCC, a structured investment business jointly owned by JC Flowers and the Kessler Group. Before that he spent eight years at MBNA (BAC) in multiple roles including Corporate Strategy, Head of Collections and Recoveries, Director of Customer Service, Operations Director and lastly as European Marketing Director. He joined MBNA from GE Capital, where he worked in the Aviation and Transport Services division as the Q&P lead (MBB) across the leasing and finance solutions group. Mr. MacKinlay started his career as an officer in the Royal Marines Commandos and saw active duty throughout his decade of service being mentioned in dispatches twice.
Mr. MacKinlay is a graduate of the Joint Services Command & Staff College, holds a Master of Science from Edinburgh University and a Bachelor of Science with Honors from the University of St Andrew's.
